March looks to be one of our most exciting months yet! Not only will we start the month off with a wonderful celebration of our Rabbi’s List students, but we will go immediately into the Purim Shpiel and then to the Purim Carnival. To quote a phrase, “It doesn’t get much better than this!”

Those many of you who joined us to celebrate our February Family Shabbat know how wonderful it is to join together for Shabbat dinner and services as a congregational family. We hope that even more of our families join us for the March Family Shabbat to celebrate the blessing of those students honored to be on the Rabbi’s List.

The Cantor’s Purim shpiel on March 9th in which many of our students will participate has all the earmarks of an even more outrageous success than last year’s “Zion King”. Join us for fun and hamentaschen that night for the reading of the Megillah in a way you will never forget!

March 11th… the day we all look forward to… Temple Israel’s unbelievable PURIM CARNIVAL! Play the games! Win the prizes! Walk down the hall of balloons! See the magician pull a rabbit out of his hat, or something! Scurry your way through the hundred foot (well, it seems that big) maze! Eat, drink and be merry! Be happy! It’s Purim!!

ORDER YOUR SH’LACH MANOT PURIM BASKET RIGHT AWAY!! GET YOUR ORDER FORM IN THE BULLETIN, THE MAIN OFFICE, OR THE RELIGIOUS SCHOOL OFFICE!!

(See, I told you it was a wild and woolly month!)

And, to top it all off, here are the questions for the Religious School Scholars!

Answers on my desk by March 20th for April Family Shabbat blessings!

  1. What was the name of the very first English- language Jewish periodical published in the United States? (Publication began March 1, 1823).
  2. On March 10th of what year was the Association for the Reform of Judaism organized in Berlin?
  3. On March 26,1979, a peace treaty was signed between Israel and what country?

Good luck, young scholars! Have a great month and remember to be happy, it’s Purim!
