February continues with many opportunities for participation at the synagogue. Continuing our new tradition, on Friday, February 9 congregants will chant torah from the Portion of the week which includes “Song of the Sea-Shirat Hayam”. We will welcome Phyllis Zuckerbrot, Penny and Norman Schuster, Jerry Gottesman, Wayne Price, Martha Raynor, Aaron Philipson and Larry Abrams to the Bima for the torah reading.

On February 16, we will acknowledge Tu B’Shevat, the Israeli Nature Holiday, with songs that are specific to the growth of trees in Israel, which you know is essential for the country.

On February 26, the Rosh Chodesh group will make its presentation for the month of Shevat.

At present, I am looking for volunteers for the Purim Spiel on March 8 at 7:30PM and for the Reading of the Megillah on Friday, March 9 at 8:00PM.

If you would like to participate in the Purim spiel the theme is “Living La Vida Loca” which will feature the Mexican Hat Dance (as well as A NEW Fashion –The Hamen Hat Sombrero), and the Lady in the

Tutti-Fruity Hat ala Carmen Miranda. It should be great fun for all.

If you would like to participate in the reading of the Megillah, I will make a tape of your portion for you. There are opportunities for reading in English and Hebrew.
