1. Jewish Education is primarily for children. 2. Secular schools are the models to follow for Jewish Education 3. Education is a service which congregants provide to members. 4. Most students will not enjoy their Jewish education but they need it. 5. It is important to teach basic Jewish knowledge and skills even if this knowledge and these skills are not used in the home or community by adult Jews. 6. Adult members of congregations are unable or unwilling to teach the young or one another. 7. Jewish schooling ought to be able to produce Jewish loyalty and Jewish identity. 8. Reform Judaism does not require a deep knowledge of Jewish tradition. 9. The most serious Jewish learning is required only of Jewish professionals such as educators, cantors and rabbis. |
